FAQ

Questions worth asking.

If something here doesn't answer it, email hello@channelcast.tv.

What encoders work with ChannelCast?

Anything that pushes RTMP. OBS Studio, vMix, Wirecast, Resi, Teradek, BlackMagic ATEM, even your phone. We give you an endpoint and a stream key — they push to it.

Do I host the videos myself?

No. ChannelCast handles transcoding, HLS delivery, and CDN distribution. Bring-your-own storage is available on Network plans if you already have a media archive.

Can I keep my existing Roku channel?

Yes. Point your existing Roku Direct Publisher feed URL at the ChannelCast endpoint. No app re-submission required — same shape, new backend.

Is the Fire TV app really one APK for all customers?

Yes. The app is activated per customer at first launch via a short code. Brand, logo, and catalog all come from the backend. You ship one APK; we handle the rest.

What happens when I exceed my streaming hours?

Nothing bad. We bill overages at $0.50/hour past your plan. No throttling, no cutoffs in the middle of a stream. Reach out and we'll right-size your plan.

How do simulcast targets work?

Pro and Complete plans can mirror the live stream to Twitch, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Kick, or any RTMP endpoint. You add the destination's URL and stream key in the channel settings; we push to it in parallel with our own ingest.

Can I schedule pre-recorded content to look live?

Yes. The schedule editor lets you queue playlists to start at a specific time. Viewers see a continuous channel; you can swap to true live anytime by going on-air.

What about analytics?

Per-channel concurrent viewers, total minutes watched, and per-episode VOD plays are available in the dashboard. Detailed event-level analytics ship to your own destination (Segment, BigQuery, S3) on the Network plan.
